Sahara Bâ Program 16: Hope for a Proud Leper |
|||
|
Do you know anyone who has leprosy? Long ago leprosy was a disease
that caused people to become outcasts and considered unclean. Lepers
were not allowed to eat with others, or to have any contact at all with
others. But leprosy is a disease that shows no favorites. A
man could be the richest man in the town one day. But if by no fault
of his own he were to contract leprosy, he would be forced to live out on
the street, suffering from not only this illness, but also the shame, and
loneliness. If the richest man caught this disease, I am sure that
he would be willing to give all the money he had to get his health back.
But the sad news is that in the times of the prophets, no amount of money
could cure a person from leprosy. Only Irôw could do it.
Thanks be to Irôw, today there is medecine to help those who have
leprosy. The sooner someone suspects that they have leprosy and can
get to the hospital to begin treatment, the better their chances for
recovery.
Our story today from Irôw’s Book the Tawrat is about a man who lived
long ago, who heard about the True Irôw who could heal him from his
leprosy, without medicine for leprosy that had not yet been discovered. For more information,
read the
second Book of the Kings 5:1-19
in the Book of Îrôw |
