Sahara Bâ Program 24: Helped by a Good Neighbor |
|||
|
Life is not always full of good fortune.
Sometimes, we go through bad things.
We have to run from our village, and our family is killed.
Our wife is cooking some food, and the fire burns the house down.
Our children can become very sick.
But when we find someone who helps us when we are suffering, our
heart is calm, and our heart finds joy, even though we are suffering.
One day, a Beri man fell into a very deep well.
He was hurt very badly.
He called out to God to help him.
Soon afterwards, a southerner found him in the well, and came down
into the well to pull him out.
But the Beri man proudly refused.
The Beri man said that he was too important to be helped by such a
dirty person. So the
southerner went away.
Then, an iron worker came down into the well to pull him out.
But the Beri man proudly refused.
The Beri man yelled at the ironworker and pushed him away with his
feet. He said that
the ironworker was very dirty, and that he was too important to be helped
by such a dirty person. So
the ironworker went away.
Soon, the Beri man died in that deep well.
When he arrived in God’s judgment seat, the Beri man was very
angry. The Beri man
said to God, “You are not kind.
Why did you not send a man to help me when I fell into the pit and
died?” God said,
“I sent you two men, but you refused their help.
Now you are here at my judgment seat.
I let my friends from every race come and live in my garden, even
the races you think they are dirty.
So now, you must stay outside.
Your heart is too proud to enter my garden.”
Long ago in the land where Issa lived there were people with no
nation. A long time
ago before, their ancestors had married foreign wives, so they were no
longer seen as pure people of the Jewish race.
Now, these people with no nation lived mostly in a certain part of
the country. The
Jews said that they were dirty people, and they refused to be touched by
them or to eat or drink with them.
Here is a story from God’s Book about a person without a race, and what
he did when he met a man who was suffering. For more information,
