Life for the Dead

            If we like to sleep, we will miss the appointments that come to us.  We may even miss an appointment with a very important leader if we do not get enough sleep the night before.  However, there is one appointment that we will not miss.  It is our appointment with the angel who will take us away from this world when we die.  His arrival may be sudden, or it may be expected.  But when he comes, no matter what we are doing that day, there is no place to hide from his appointment.

            When death takes a family member away, it is important to spend time with the family to bring comfort to the heart of those who greatly miss their loved one.  There is also the 40th day sacrifice, and the one year sacrifice.  Especially when the person who has died is well loved, we do all we can to attend these sacrifices, even if we must travel far.  When the dead person was precious to us, we would even leave behind the important work of our fields to be at the sacrifices.

            Before death, we are all powerless.  It would be wonderful if we had a friend who could raise our dead loved one back to life again.  But only Irôw has the authority over life and death.
